Prep roundup: Parkview nips South 81-80 in OT

LILBURN - Andrew Roesch scored on a layup with 15 seconds to play to give Parkview an 81-80 win in overtime over Region 8-AAAAA rival South Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Roesch finished with 15 points while Yaw Gyawu, who led the Panthers (12-4, 4-1) with 27, banked in a 2-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. Isaac Fisher also played well for Parkview with 19 points, while South (2-3 region) received a game-high 28 points from Mario Vasser.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Shiloh 62, Brookwood 54

SNELLVILLE - Shiloh upped its record to 7-9 overall and 3-3 in Region 8-AAAAA by beating Brookwood 62-54 on Tuesday.

Delta Leonard led the Generals with 16 points while Cedric Eichelberger added 11 points. Brookwood (6-8, 1-4) received a game-best 18 points from Nate Hamilton while Thomas Higginbotham scored 15.

Meadowcreek 69, Central Gwinnett 43

LAWRENCEVILLE - Teondre Williams had 28 points, six steals and five blocks on Tuesday while Charles Johnson added 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals as Meadowcreek knocked off Central Gwinnett 69-43.

Thomas Hines added 10 points for the Mustangs (11-4, 4-1) while Dwayne Robinson had a game-high 16 rebounds.

Berkmar 75, Grayson 50

LILBURN - Berkmar's Demarion Gordon scored 21 points on Tuesday in guiding the Patriots to a 75-50 win over Grayson.

Nick Henry added 11 points as the Patriots improved to 10-4 overall and 4-1 in the region. Grayson was led by 12 points from Javarris Smith.

North Gwinnett 84, North Forsyth 41

SUWANEE - All 14 North Gwinnett players scored, led by 29 from Ebuka Anyaorah, as the Bulldogs pounded North Forsyth 84-41 on Tuesday. The win improved North Gwinnett to 10-9 overall and 6-4 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Duluth 63, Forsyth Central 50

DULUTH - Duluth trailed by five points at the half but rallied to defeat Forsyth Central 63-50 on Tuesday.

Armand Tatum, who led Duluth (3-16, 1-9) with 26 points, scored 15 of those in the third while Antonio Falls and Jarrett Christian each finished with 10 points.

Loganville 74, Jackson Co. 47

JEFFERSON - Luke Baker had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds on Tuesday in helping Loganville beat Jackson County 74-47.

Ryan Boulter led Loganville (14-2) in scoring with 13 points.

Hart Co. 77, Apalachee 67

WINDER - Despite a game-best 24 points from Chaun Gresham, Apalachee came up short 77-67 against Hart County. Diamond Gerring also scored 10 points for Apalachee (5-12, 2-5).

Decatur 45, Buford 32

BUFORD - Decatur held Buford to just 10 points in the second half as the Bulldogs upended the Wolves 45-32 on Tuesday night.

Melvin Harris scored 12 to lead Buford (6-9) while Twoey Hosch added 10 points.

Providence 62, Mt. Paran 45

KENNESAW - Westley Hinton led a group of players in double-figures with 19 points as Providence soared past Mount Paran 62-45 on Tuesday night.

Jesse Meier added 14 points for the Stars (5-11, 2-4) while Tyan McClanahan scored 12 and Carter Rice finished with 10.

Heritage 53, Covenant Christian 52

LOGANVILLE - Heritage Academy edged Covenant Christian 53-52 on Tuesday night. Austin Hays had 20 points and 12 rebounds for Covenant (7-8) while Jesse Seibel added 20 points and 10 boards.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mill Creek 67, South Forsyth 59

CUMMING - South Forsyth led top-ranked Mill Creek 20-14 after the first quarter but the Hawks bounced back for a 67-59 win on Tuesday.

Porsha Porter scored 26 to lead the Hawks (16-1, 10-0) while Monique Weathers added 21 points. Tia Williams also scored 10 for Mill Creek.

Duluth 72, Forsyth Central 48

DULUTH - Duluth went on a 22-4 run in the second quarter on Tuesday night against Forsyth Central as the Wildcats pulled away for a 72-48 Region 7-AAAAA win.

Alex Shaw scored 18 to lead Duluth (13-5, 7-3) while Daphne Adebayo scored 12 and Alex Phillips finished with 10 points.

North Gwinnett 50, North Forsyth 38

SUWANEE - Stephanie Wheeler led all scorers with 11 points on Tuesday in helping North Gwinnett to a 50-38 win over North Forsyth.

Stefanie Schuck added 10 points as North Gwinnett improved to 13-6 overall and 7-3 in Region 7-AAAAA.

Berkmar 57, Grayson 44

LILBURN - Seventh-ranked Berkmar improved to 14-2 overall and 4-1 in Region 8-AAAAA on Tuesday with a 57-44 win over Grayson.

Gabby Harvey scored 11 to lead Berkmar while Ka'Vonne Towns added nine points. Grayson was led by a game-high 17 points from Taren White.

Central Gwinnett 61, Meadowcreek 43

LAWRENCEVILLE - Three Central Gwinnett players hit for double-digits in points, led by 17 from Jasmine Scott, as the Black Knights topped Meadowcreek 61-43 on Tuesday.

Dria David added 14 points and Shawna Land chipped in with 13 as Central moved to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Genea Williams led the Mustangs (3-12) with 16 points and six rebounds while Brooke Wigfall finished with 16 points and Aaryn Sells added seven rebounds and six points.

Brookwood 50, Shiloh 47

SNELLVILLE - Courtney McLane and Katie Mallow each scored 15 points Tuesday night in helping Brookwood hold off Shiloh 50-47. Shiloh held a nine-point lead at the half but Brookwood (4-11, 3-2) outscored the Generals 31-19 in the second half.

Nikki Sutton scored 11 to lead Shiloh (2-15, 1-5).

Loganville 47, Jackson Co. 33

JEFFERSON - Loganville improved to 13-3 on Tuesday by beating Jackson County 47-33. Katie Martin led the Red Devils with 16 points.

Buford 66, Decatur 47

BUFORD - Jocelyn Danley pitched in 21 points on Tuesday night as No. 4 Buford topped Decatur 66-47 in Region 6-AA play.

Blanche Alverson added 12 points as Buford improved to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the region.

Hebron 35, Prince Ave. 33

ATHENS - Rachel Duval scored with 40 seconds left to put Hebron up for good as the Lions gutted out a 35-33 win over Prince Avenue on Tuesday night.

Duval finished with 17 points while Britt Pecht, who hit three free throws in the closing seconds, added eight points and eight rebounds. Hebron (6-6) also received help from Olivia Clark with eight rebounds and seven points.

Providence 49, Mt. Paran 38

KENNESAW - Providence remained perfect in Region 5-A, Div. B at 6-0 on Tuesday night with a 49-38 win at Mt. Paran.

Maggie Brown led the Stars (12-4 overall) with 17 points while Caroline Adams finished with 14 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks. Summar Corley had a solid game with seven points and seven rebounds while Julie Jordan chipped in with seven steals, six points and four rebounds.

Covenant 33, Heritage 28

LOGANVILLE - Covenant Christian Academy improved to 5-8 on Tuesday with a 33-28 overtime win over Heritage. Michelle Rockey and Maggie Davis each had nine points for Covenant.
