SNELLVILLE - Police confirmed Wednesday a 52-year-old Snellville woman who went missing last week has been found safe in DeKalb County.
Late last week, family members told police Linda Sue Andrisan, of 2009 Fabersham Drive, Snellville, was last seen leaving her home six days prior.
Following a vehicle accident, she was admitted to DeKalb Medical Center under a different name. Police were able to verify this week that the hospitalized woman is Andrisan.
Family members reported Andrisan suffers from schizophrenia. She has been admitted to an in-patient facility, said Snellville Police Department Chief Roy Whitehead.
DeKalb police found Andrisan's white Dodge Neon abandoned at the intersection of U.S. Highway 78 and Interstate 285 the day she disappeared. Her purse and cell phone were found inside the vehicle.
Emergency responders in DeKalb transported Andrisan to the hospital after she "was found walking the streets," said Snellville police Detective Robert Seraphine.
Hospital staff transferred Andrisan to a mental health facility after evaluating her, Seraphine said.
