NORCROSS - Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old man believed to be responsible for stabbing to death a Norcross man outside an apartment complex Tuesday night.
According to Gwinnett County police, a fight ensued between Jose Luis Martinez-Macias and 18-year-old Marvin Talavera after hand gestures of gang signs were exchanged between the two and others who congregated outside the Oakbrook Pointe complex at 1635 Pirkle Road.
Talavera was stabbed multiple times, according to a Police Department press release.
Police said Talavera was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center after his friends called 911. Talavera later died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.
Authorities determined Talavera was a member of the North Side 18th Street gang. Police said Martinez-Macias denied having any affiliation with a gang.
Police said the weapon used in the stabbing was found at Martinez-Macias' home.
Martinez-Macias has been charged with felony murder and is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
