LILBURN - A Berkmar High School student faces criminal charges after he ignored a school resource officer's order to stop fighting in the cafeteria Tuesday morning, according to arrest warrants.

The officer and a school administrator had to physically restrain the 18-year-old, and during the arrest, the officer found a 21/2 inch knife in the student's pocket, the documents state.

Christopher Jamar Randolph, 18, was being held in the Gwinnett County jail Wednesday in lieu of a $10,200 bond on charges of disruption of a public school, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and possession of a weapon on school property.

Sloan Roach, a spokeswoman for Gwinnett County Public Schools, described the fight as a "verbal altercation" in which the student was "posturing to fight."

Randolph never made any threat with the knife, which was discovered during the arrest, Roach said.

Jail records show Randolph was also arrested Dec. 30 on a criminal trespass charge.

An arrest warrant states Randolph entered a town house at 2614 Herrington Woods Court in Lawrenceville without authority to unlawfully damage a rear window. The document also shows Randolph lives at that address.

Randolph was given a $1,200 bond for that misdemeanor charge.
