Prep roundup: Shiloh boys beat South at buzzer

SNELLVILLE - Zac Lurry of Shiloh hit a shot at the buzzer to give the Generals their first Region 8-AAAAA win with a 56-54 final over South Gwinnett on Tuesday.

Cedric Eichelberger and Cam Whigham each scored 15 as Shiloh improved to 1-3 in the region. South (8-3, 2-1) was led by 12 points from Mario Vasser.


Norcross 88, Duluth 34

DULUTH - Al-Farouq Aminu scored 21 points and Denzail Jones added 18 more as No. 1 Norcross downed Duluth 88-34 on Tuesday.

Tarriq Mohammad added 13 points as Norcross improved to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in Region 7-AAAAA. Justin Eckard led Duluth with nine points.

Central 84, Grayson 81

LOGANVILLE - DeVonta White scored 23 points and Prinz Barimah added 20 more as Central Gwinnett outlasted Grayson 84-81 on Tuesday in Region 8-AAAAA.

Brian Williams finished with 19 points as Central improved to 3-1 in the region. Grayson (0-3 region) was led by 20 points from Javarris Smith, 17 from Andrew Osehmen, 16 from Dee Smith and 10 each from Ben Loudermilk and Greg Schatell.

Meadowcreek 79, Brookwood 68

NORCROSS - Despite getting 32 points from Nate Hamilton, Brookwood fell 79-68 to Meadowcreek on Tuesday.

Jamell Hamler scored 16 to lead Meadowcreek (8-4, 1-1). Tyler McDaniels also played well with 14 points and eight rebounds while, Charles Johnson added 12 points and six assists.

Mill Creek 55, Forsyth Central 31

HOSCHTON - Mill Creek improved to 3-5 in Region 7-AAAAA on Tuesday by beating Forsyth Central 55-31.

Travis Bollier and Zach Landis each scored 12 points to lead the Hawks.

Peachtree Ridge 63, North Forsyth 49

SUWANEE - Adrian Hubbard scored 20 points and Khalid Mutakabbir added 13 more on Tuesday as Peachtree Ridge upended North Forsyth 63-49.

Tim Foster chipped in with 12 points and Bryen Pyles scored 10 as the Lions improved to 9-7 overall and 5-3 in Region 7-AAAAA.

North 68, South Forsyth 63

CUMMING - North Gwinnett received 22 points from Ebuka Anyaorah on Tuesday as the Bulldogs knocked off South Forsyth 68-63 in Region 7-AAAAA play.

Travis Techo added 14 points for North (9-7, 5-2) while Alex Tiller chipped in 12 points. South Forsyth (13-4, 6-2) was led by 25 points from Jimmy Conley.

Dacula 70, Jackson Co. 26

DACULA - Justin Rush scored 18 points in leading Dacula to a 70-26 rout of Jackson County in Region 8-AAAA play.

Dacula, ranked ninth in Class AAAA, also received 12 points from Trent Kammerer as the Falcons improved to 16-1 overall and 7-0 in the region.

Loganville 65, Madison Co. 41

DANIELSVILLE - Loganville improved to 12-2 on Tuesday with a 65-41 win over Madison County. Luke Baker scored 13 to lead Loganville.

Elbert Co. 61, Apalachee 58

WINDER - Elbert County scored six points in the final five seconds to upset Apalachee 61-58 on Tuesday night. Elbert County tied the game with a 3-pointer with five seconds to play and won the game with a banked-in 3-pointer from beyond half court at the buzzer.

Chaun Gresham led Apalachee (4-10, 1-4) with 15 points while DeVaughn Kilgore scored 13 and Clayton Barber came off the bench to score 12.

Athens Christian 73, Hebron Christian 51

DACULA - Four Athens Christian players scored in double-figures on Tuesday in defeating Hebron 73-51.

James Floyd had 13 points and eight rebounds for Hebron (2-8, 0-1) while Josh Manga added 13 points and 12 boards.

AIS 59, Providence 50

LILBURN - Mohamed Tarranally scored 24 points on Tuesday to lead Atlanta International School 59-50 over Providence.

Westley Hinton led Providence (3-11, 0-4) with 19 points while Ryan McClanahan finished with 13 points.


Mill Creek 68, Forsyth Central 44

HOSCHTON - Top-ranked Mill Creek improved to 8-0 in Region 7-AAAAA on Tuesday by beating Forsyth Central 68-44.

Porsha Porter scored 19 to lead Mill Creek (14-1 overall) while Whitney Smith and Moneshia Simmons each scored 11.

Duluth 45, Norcross 41

DULUTH - Mykala Walker scored 11 points Tuesday night in helping Duluth hold off Norcross 45-41 for a Region 7-AAAAA win.

Norcross, which received a game-high 17 points from Tiffany Clarke, trailed by as many as 11 in the second half before tying the game late in the fourth. However, Duluth's Mykala Walker, who scored 10 points, hit a 3-pointer with under a minute to play to give the lead back to Duluth (12-4, 6-2).

Central 60, Grayson 50

LOGANVILLE - Three Central Gwinnett players scored in double-digits, led by 19 from Jasmine Scott, as the Black Knights (7-6, 2-2) topped Grayson 60-50 in Region 8-AAAAA action.

Dria David added 15 for Central while Lauren Brown finished with 12 points. Grayson (4-10, 0-3) was led by 15 points from Rebecca Westbrooks and 13 from Taren White.

North 52, South Forsyth 50

CUMMING - North Gwinnett trailed South Forsyth 43-29 after three quarters on Tuesday but outscored the War Eagles 23-7 in the final period to come away with a 52-50 win in a Region 7-AAAAA game.

Stephanie Wheeler, who led North with 15 points, scored on a baseline drive with seven seconds left to put North (12-4, 5-2) up for good. Abby Slocumb also played well for North with 10 rebounds, while Lara Gaspar of South Forsyth led all players with 18 points.

Peachtree Ridge 46, North Forsyth 27

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge evened its overall record at 8-8 and improved its Region 7-AAAAA mark to 3-5 with a 46-27 win over North Forsyth on Tuesday.

Erika Waters led the Lions with 15 points and seven rebounds while Mackenzie Dalrymple finished with 13 points and six steals.

Brookwood 61, Meadowcreek 38

NORCROSS - Brookwood cruised to a 61-38 win over Meadowcreek on Tuesday in a Region 8-AAAAA game. All 12 players scored for the Broncos (3-10, 2-1), led by 14 from Courtney McLane and 10 from Katie Mallow.

Meadowcreek (3-9, 0-3) was led by Brooke Wigfall (16 points, four steals, three assists), Genea Williams (eight points, four rebounds, three steals) and Massy Soumohoro (seven rebounds).

Dacula 48, Jackson Co. 43

DACULA - Abbie Daniel scored 17 points and Breanna Overby grabbed 10 rebounds on Tuesday in helping Dacula to a 48-43 win over Jackson County.

Eve Machovec added 13 points as Dacula improved to 8-8 overall and 1-2 in Region 8-AAAA.

Athens Christian 50, Hebron Christian 42

DACULA - Hebron fell to 5-5 overall and 1-1 in Region 8-A on Tuesday by losing to Athens Christian 50-42.

Hebron's Britt Pecht finished with 15 points and collected her 1,000th career point while Olivia Clark scored 13 points and Rachel Duval finished with 11 points.

Providence 36, AIS 24

LILBURN - Caroline Adams scored 12 points Tuesday night in leading Providence to a 36-24 win over Atlanta International School in a Region 5-A, Div. B contest.

Amelia Allen chipped in nine points and four assists for Providence (10-4, 4-0) while Maggie Brown scored eight points.


Dacula's Hunt notches 100th career win

DACULA - Noah Hunt of Dacula, wrestling at 119 pounds, earned his 100th career win Tuesday night with a pin as Dacula beat both South Forsyth 45-24 and North Oconee 68-3.

Also winning two matches each for the fifth-ranked Falcons (10-1) were Brandon Bullock (103 pounds), Frankie Miller (112), Dale Miller (125), Arialdis Japa (135), Zeke Hunt (152), Chris Hamrick (171) and Westin Sand (189).
