Conni Pope Atkinson, age 45, of Dacula, GA, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Dr. Dave Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in Hamilton Mill Memorial Gardens, Buford. The Family will receive friends Friday, January 11, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Ms. Atkinson is survived by her children, Sheree Atkinson and Taylor Atkinson, Dacula; Parents, Walter and Mary Pope, Hoschton; Grandmother, Ellie Forrester, Decatur; Sister and Brother In-law, Vicki and Gregg Dickson, Lawrenceville; Brother and Sister In-law, Mike and Sherrie Pope, Winder; Nieces and Nephews, Whitney, Brantley and Jamie Dickson, Hunter Pope, Ivie Grace Bradberry. Conni was born in Wake County, NC and lived most of her life in the metro Atlanta area. She was a graduate of SW Dekalb High School and a proud alumnus of Clemson University Class of 1983. She was employed with Gwinnett County Public Schools where she taught for 24 years and additionally served on the Board of Directors of the Gwinnett Football League.
