Norcross home catches fire;

no injuries

NORCROSS - No one was injured in a Saturday morning fire on Wyntree Drive.

Capt. Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department, said the house at 3320 Wyntree Drive in Norcross caught fire before 10 a.m.

Rutledge said crews found heavy fire and smoke when they arrived. The blaze caused heavy damage to the attic and smoke, heat and water damage to the second floor.

The cause of the fire appeared to be accidental, Rutledge said. The home's occupants were displace and were assisted by the Red Cross.

Woman reports car hijacking

LAWRENCE-VILLE - A woman told police that her vehicle was hijacked at the intersection of Old Peachtree Road and Whitehead Drive.

She told police a man came out of the woods, pointed a gun at her and told her get out of the car and walk away without looking. She had no description of the man, nor did she know in which direction he drove away with her car.
