Rec authority meets

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett County Recreation Authority will meet Thursday.

The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville in Conference Room B.

Dance classes offered

WINDER - The City of Winder Cultural Arts Department is offering a second session of ballroom dance classes in the Winder Cultural Arts Center at 105 E. Athens St.

These classes, once again taught by Natalie Grier Cox, will begin Jan. 15 and will run for six consecutive Tuesday nights. Two separate class sessions will be held each night, from 6 to 7 p.m. and 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

Cox received her A.B. and J.D. from the University of Georgia. While at UGA, she served as a principal dancer of the UGA Ballroom Performance Group from 2002-06 and as the group's president during her last year. Since graduation, she has continued to perform and teach with Contact Dance at Dancespace and various studios around Northeast Georgia. Notable performances include DanceAthens at the Morton Theatre and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, S.C.

Cost per couple is $90 per class for a six-week session and $60 for a single dancer, paid directly to the instructor (cash or check only). There is a maximum enrollment of ten couples per class.
