Prep roundup: Collins Hill boys rally to beat Mill Creek

SUWANEE - Collins Hill trailed by as many 12 points in the first half but regrouped in the second half to post a 64-59 win over Mill Creek on Friday in Region 7-AAAAA basketball.

Andrew Anderson led Collins Hill (13-5, 6-2) with 16 points while Jeremy Olsen finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds. The Eagles also received help from Reed Buck with 13 points and T.J. Willliams with 11 points.

Chase Anderson of Mill Creek led all players with 19 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

North 81, Duluth 58

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett improved to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in Region 7-AAAAA with an 81-58 win over Duluth on Friday.

Ebuka Anyaorah led North with 26 points while Eric Tiller scored 16 and Conner Day finished with 13. Duluth (2-14, 0-7) was led by 20 points from Antonio Falls.

Parkview 89, Grayson 51

LOGANVILLE - Three Parkview players scored in double figures, led by 25 from Yaw Gyawu, as the Panthers cruised past Grayson 89-51 on Friday night.

Bobby Glover added 17 points and Andrew Roesch followed with 15 as Parkview improved to 9-3 overall and 1-0 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Berkmar 51, Shiloh 37

SNELLVILLE - Berkmar's Region 8-AAAAA schedule got off to a good start on Friday as the Patriots topped Shiloh 51-37.

Wesley Witherspoon and Nick Henry each scored 10 points for Berkmar (7-3, 1-0) while Andre Crittendon led Shiloh (4-8, 0-2) with 12 rebounds and seven points.

Dacula 64, Loganville 60

LOGANVILLE - Dacula ran its record to 14-1 on Friday with a 64-60 triumph over Loganville.

Brian Cole scored 19 to lead Dacula (5-0 Region 8-AAAA) while Clay Wages added 14 points. Wages also came up big on defense by taking a charge with one minute left to play.

Loganville (10-2) was led by 15 points from Clivins Volcy.

GAC 64, Pace 62 (OT)

ATLANTA - Greater Atlanta Christian trailed by as many 10 points on Friday but the Spartans battled back and then held on for a 64-62 win over Pace in overtime.

Brett Johnson scored 17 to lead GAC (13-2, 7-0) while Trent Wiedeman added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jake Mitchell also chipped in by scoring five of his 10 points in the overtime period.

Pace, led by 34 points from Zuri James, had the game's last possession but missed two shots in the final eight seconds.

Galloway 51, Providence 49

LILBURN - Three Providence players hit for double figures in points but the Stars fell just short by falling 51-49 to Galloway.

Carter Rice led Providence (3-9, 0-2) with 12 points while Jesse Meier scored 11 and Michael Adams finished with 10. Galloway, led by 14 points from James Wilber, broke a 49-49 tie by with a basket off a Providence turnover in the last 40 seconds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Mill Creek 74, Collins Hill 28

SUWANEE - Mill Creek's Porsha Porter scored 19 points on Friday night as the second-ranked Hawks flew past Collins Hill 74-28 in a Region 7-AAAAA game.

Olivia Towers-Solis also added 13 points for the Hawks (13-1, 7-0).

Collins Hill (9-6, 5-3) was led by 11 points from Taylor Johnson.

Berkmar 60, Shiloh 44

SNELLVILLE - Berkmar opened its Region 8-AAAAA schedule on Friday by beating Shiloh 60-44.

Tyra Smith and Mariah Richardson each led Berkmar (11-1, 1-0) with 12 points while Smith dished out four assists.

Shiloh (1-11, 0-2) was led by 14 points from Nicole Fifer and nine from Sherry Mujkanovic.

Parkview 55, Grayson 10

LOGANVILLE - Parkview's Sczeny Hartry scored 14 points Friday night as Parkview won its Region 8-AAAAA opener 55-10 over Grayson.

Parkview improved to 10-2 overall and 1-0 in the region.

Buford 54, Creekview 21

CANTON - Third-ranked Buford remained unbeaten in Region 6-AA at 5-0 by cruising past Creekview 54-21 on Friday night.

Blanche Alverson and Jocelyn Danley each scored 13 points as Buford improved to 10-1 overall.

GAC 69, Pace 41

ATLANTA - Briana Jordan and Chaney Means each scored 17 points Friday night in leading top-ranked Greater Atlanta Christian to a 69-41 win over Pace in Region 6-AA play.

Mollie Mitchell added 10 points for GAC (12-2, 6-0) while Clarke Boards dished four assists and Jordan collected five rebounds.

North 49, Duluth 42

SUWANEE - Stephanie Wheeler scored 15 points Friday night as North Gwinnett picked up a key Region 7-AAAAA win by beating Duluth 49-42.

The game was tied at 31-31 after three quarters when North (10-4, 3-2) outscored Duluth 18-11 in the final stanza to pull away. Daphne Adebayo led Duluth with 15 points.

Loganville 59, Dacula 35

LOGANVILLE - Loganville stayed atop the Region 8-AAAA standings at 6-0 with a 59-35 win over Dacula on Friday.

Katie Martin scored 20 to lead Loganville (11-1 overall) while Brittnee Hazel added 10 points. Dacula (7-7) was led by 10 points from Breanna Overby.

Providence 44, Galloway 22

LILBURN - Amelia Allen scored 16 points on Friday in leading Providence to a 44-22 win over Galloway in Region 5-A, Div. B action.

Julie Jordan chipped in with eight points while Cassi Flowers added seven points for Providence (8-4, 2-0).
