LAWRENCEVILLE - School's back in session.
Gwinnett County Public Schools students returned to classes Thursday from a winter break that began Dec. 21.
There were a few minor delays in students getting to school, as the cold weather caused a small number of school buses to have a slower than normal start, said Jorge Quintana, a school district spokesman. All of the problems were resolved during the early morning routes, he said.
"It looks like, overall, Gwinnett students had a good first day back from the holiday," Quintana said. "The majority of students arrived at school on time this morning, ready for the first day of the second semester."
Only one school had more than 10 percent of its student body absent, Quintana said.
At Meadowcreek Elementary in Norcross, 125 students - or 12.9 percent of its enrollment - were absent Thursday.
The next student holiday is Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Meanwhile, Buford City Schools students get to enjoy a few more days off. Classes resume Tuesday.
