Gwinnett area friends of late Central Gwinnett football coach Dennis Roland will have a chance to pay their final respects at a memorial service today.
The event for Roland, who died Tuesday morning after a battle with cancer, will be held at 7 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, located at 250 Gwinnett Drive near the high school.
"We're expecting a big crowd," Central assistant football coach Bryan Allen said.
After today's event, visitation for family and friends of Roland will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home in the coach's hometown of Cochran.
Roland's funeral services will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Cochran First Baptist Church. The coach's family has invited the Central football coaching staff to be Roland's pallbearers. His burial will be in Pulaski-Bleckley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Roland's family has asked that contributions be made to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O. Box 7476, Athens, GA 30604, the American Cancer Society or Gideons International.
