Campbell's streak lives but Gladiators hit two-game skid

Forward Jeff Campbell upped his point scoring streak to 14 games on Sunday, but the Gwinnett Gladiators hockey team still suffered its second extra-time loss in a row, both on the road.

After losing in overtime Friday to Augusta, Gwinnett fell to South Carolina 3-2 on Sunday in a shootout. Goalkeeper Dan Turple made 28 saves and the Gladiators' goals came from Jeff Mason and Jeff Campbell, whose seventh tally of the season kept his point streak alive.

Campbell has five goals and 25 assists in his current 14-game streak. He also hit another milestone in Friday's loss to Augusta with his 200th career point as a Gladiator. He is one of only five players in franchise history (which includes Mobile and Gwinnett) to reach 200 points.

Stuart reaches NHL with Thrashers

Colin Stuart played for the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night, becoming the fourth former Gladiator to reach the NHL. He had his first NHL point, an assist, in the Thrashers' 5-0 win over the Boston Bruins. Stuart scored his first NHL goal on Monday in a loos to the Bruins

Stuart played as a rookie with Gwinnett in 2004-2005. Gwinnett also has sent Adam Munro, Adam Berkhoel and Michael Garnett to the pros.
