Prep roundup: Yoon's OT goal lifts Norcross girls past Central

NORCROSS - Junior Lara Yoon scored the overtime winner as Norcross' girls soccer team defeated Central Gwinnett 3-2 on Monday.

Lindsey Warthen assisted on the game-winning goal.

Johana Flores scored Norcross' first goal off an assist from Jenna Hanington, and freshman Jami Lupuloff had the Blue Devils (4-1-1) other tally.

Goalkeeper Breanna Meeks made 13 saves in the victory.

GIRLS SOCCER

Collins Hill 2, Harrison 1

KENNESAW - Jacelyn Mitchell scored the game-winner with less than five minutes left to lift the No. 13 state-ranked Eagles over the No. 3 Hoyas. Alexa Jones also scored for Collins Hill (3-2).

BOYS SOCCER

GAC 5, Marist 3

NORCROSS - Chris Thomas scored four goals to lift the top-ranked (Class AA/A) Spartans (5-0) over the No. 6 War Eagles.

Peter Lobona also scored, while Zack Johnson, Richard Klemm, Matthew Carrothers and Trey Breon each added an assist.

BASEBALL

Peachtree Ridge 7, Shiloh 0

SUWANEE - David Randall (1-0) gave up just one hit and struck out seven, while Justin Goetz (3 IP, 2 H, 7 IP) picked up the win as the Lions (1-0) shut out the Generals in the season opener for both teams at Peachtree Ridge on Monday.

Nate Chong and Chris Brunatti each went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Kyle Taylor was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Blake Snyder went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

BOYS TENNIS

Apalachee 4, Hebron 1

WINDER - The Wildcats (2-0) got victories at No. 1 singles from Who Hang and at No. 3 singles from Cody Dupree and swept the doubles matches to beat Hebron Christian on Monday.

The doubles winners were Daniel McConnell and Pace Easterling at No. 1 and Richard Neeman and Caleb Gunby at No. 2.

Evan Haas posted Hebron's only victory at No. 2 singles.

Brookwood 3, Chattahoochee 2

ALPHARETTA - Devin Flynn won at No. 2 singles, Zach Jones took the No. 3 singles match and the No. 2 doubles team of Jon Lamparter and Brace Becknell to lift the Broncos (6-0) over Chattahoochee on Monday.

North Forsyth 3, Buford 2

BUFORD - Ben Hunter won at No. 1 singles and Andrew Platt won at No. 3 singles, but the Wolves (2-2) fell to North Forsyth on Monday.

Dacula 4, Berkmar 1

DACULA - Dacula got wins at the top two singles spots and swept the doubles matches to defeat Berkmar 4-1 on Monday.

No. 1 Kevin Ramberg and No. 2 Anwar Ferdinand were victorious. No. 1 doubles Brandon Tucker and Zach Nelson and No. 2 doubles Chris Reagan and Robbie Hendley also won.

GIRLS TENNIS

Brookwood 4, Chattahoochee 1

ALPHARETTA - The Broncos swept the doubles matches with wins by Hailey Denson and Nicole Hernandez at No. 1 and Lindsey Peyton and Stephanie Hedlund at No. 2 to beat Chattahoochee.

Dana Guentert (No. 1) and Jordan Johnston (No. 2) won singles matches for Brookwood, which improved to 5-0.

Buford 5, North Forsyth 0

BUFORD - The Wolves (3-1) swept North Forsyth behind singles wins from Audrey Marlette, Bekah Beaty and Jordan Poole on Monday

Whitney Holman and Cortland West at No. 1 doubles and Jancy Burge and Michelle Hanley at No. 2 doubles were also winners.

Apalachee 3, Hebron 2

WINDER - No. 1 singles Sarah Hedrick and No. 2 singles Kara McFarland both won their matches, but it wasn't enough for Class A Hebron to knock off Class AAA Apalachee on Monday.

Hebron dropped a 3-2 decision to Apalachee, the Lions' first loss of the young season.

Dacula 4, Berkmar 1

DACULA - Dacula only ceded the No. 1 singles match to Berkmar, picking up a 4-1 overall victory on Monday.

Singles winners were Mariel Herrera and Maggie Bevil. Doubles winners were Holly Knight and Stephanie Weeden, and Abby Crowe and Paige Carver.

BOYS GOLF

Peachtree Ridge 152, Parkview 179

DULUTH - Seth Reeves fired an even-par 36 and Ben Lee shot 2-over 38 as the Lions defeated the Panthers at TPC Sugarloaf. Ted Moon was Parkview's low medalist with a 43.
