Barbados honors singer Rihanna as a cultural ambassador

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - Barbados has named Rihanna an honorary cultural ambassador for her native Caribbean island.

Prime Minister David Thompson made the announcement at a rally Thursday night in the capital, Bridgetown, to honor the 20-year-old singer, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty.

Thompson said the government also was recognizing Rihanna's contributions by giving her a plot of real estate in the exclusive Apes Hill area of St. James parish.

Judge extends restraining order against Spears' pal Sam Lufti

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge on Thursday ordered Britney Spears' pal Sam Lutfi to stay away from the struggling pop star.

U.S. District Court Judge Philip Gutierrez extended a restraining order against Lutfi until March 17, when a hearing was scheduled on the matter.

The action came on the same day Lutfi was formally served with the restraining order, which was issued earlier this month by a Superior Court commissioner.
