Roscoe Felix Johnson, Jr., age 86, former resident of Columbus, died on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Atrium at Georgetown Square in Atlanta, GA. Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 11 a.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Buddy Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 18, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. Mr. Johnson, son of the late Dr. Roscoe F. Johnson and Evelyn Dudley Johnson, was born June 27, 1921 in Columbus, GA. He was a graduate of Columbus High School and Emory University. Mr. Johnson served his country honorably as a member of the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. During his military career, he served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. After retirement from the military, he worked as a CPA for Robinson, Grimes and Co. for over 24 years. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mr. Johnson was also a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, the American Legion, and the Georgia Society of CPAs. He was preceded in death by wives, Betty Schultz Johnson (1977) and Mary Perry Johnson (1997). Mr. Johnson is survived by two daughters, Susan Johnson of Tampa, FL, and Lynn Curry of Lawrenceville, GA; four step-daughters, Paula Clayton of Lawrenceville, GA, Wendy Glasbrenner of Gainesville, GA, Carol Weaver of Phenix City, AL, and Julie Glasbrenner of Columbus, GA; one brother, Nolan L. Johnson of Marietta, GA; two granddaughters, Shannon and Sara Curry; six step-grandchildren; five step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
