NORCROSS - While Valentine's Day has many people thinking about love, some Gwinnett girls got a chance to dance with their first sweethearts - their dads.
On Feb. 8, the Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center held its annual Daddy/Daughter Dance.
On Friday, mothers and sons will have their own event.
"It was the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life," said Mauri Hicks, a recreational leader at the center. She said she could tell which girls had their fathers wrapped around their little fingers.
"There were little girls in their ball gowns," she said. "It was the cutest thing to see the fathers dance with the girls."
The event is for ages 4 and up, and Hicks said several fathers brought their teenagers to the dance.
"There's only a certain time frame that kids want to be bothered by their parents," Hick said. The parents "really need to jump on that."
Mothers and grandmothers are invited to bring their boys to Friday's event from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Norcross center.
The $10 cost per person includes refreshments, a live DJ and a photo to commemorate this special occasion.
