EMS Technologies acquires Swedish firm

NORCROSS - Norcross-based EMS Technologies, a wireless and satellite communications company, announced Tuesday that it purchased Sweden-based Akerstroms Trux AB for $15.5 million.

Akerstroms Trux AB is an international company that develops, sells and markets vehicle-mount computers used in warehouses and factories. It brings to EMS a new Windows XP-based product line.

EMS executives expect the acquisition to speed up the growth of its vehicle-mount computer business worldwide. The company employs about 1,000 workers globally and operates manufacturing facilities in Norcross and Ottawa, Canada.
