Man, asleep in car, awakes to robbers

DULUTH - A Gwinnett County police officer was flagged down by a man Tuesday who had a zip tie fastened around his neck.

The 56-year-old man told police he was robbed by two Hispanic men as he slept in his car outside The Falls apartments on Satellite Boulevard.

According to a police report, the man was pulled out of his car by the men and forced to the ground as they secured the plastic tie around his neck.

The pair took a nail gun, two cameras and $700 to $800 from the victim's wallet, the report said.

Emergency personnel were able to remove the tie.

The victim said his home had recently been foreclosed on and explained that was why he was sleeping in his vehicle.

The men were described as 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall with thin builds and driving a green car with a loud muffler.
