SNELLVILLE - The victim of a deadly Tuesday morning car crash has been identified as a 29-year-old Snellville man, police said Thursday.
William Tyrone Hicks died at the scene when for unknown reasons his white Honda Accord crossed the center line and side-swiped a Chevrolet Suburban. The SUV struck a Ford Taurus head on, injuring the driver, 57-year-old Jeanette Burkes of Snellville, spurring emergency personnel to fly her to Atlanta Medical Center. Authorities said Burkes suffered serious injuries. Gwinnett County Police Department Cpl. Illana Spellman said Hicks was not wearing his seat belt and may have been under the influence of alcohol. According to police, the drivers of both the SUV and the Taurus were properly restrained. Gay Clayton, 54, of Conyers and two teenage boys riding in the SUV were not injured. Spellman said an investigation into the exact cause of the accident continues.More like this story
