LAWRENCEVILLE - Authorities believe a man who died in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning may have been under the influence of alcohol.
Gwinnett County accident investigators were called to the crash scene at Lenora Church Road near Meadow Point Drive near Snellville about 9:30 a.m. Police said preliminary investigations indicate a white, 1992 Honda Accord was traveling north on Lenora Church Road and for unknown reasons crossed the center line, entering the southbound lane and side-swiping a Chevrolet Suburban. The driver of the Honda died at the scene. The SUV struck a Ford Taurus head on, injuring the female driver inside. She was life-flighted to Atlanta Medical Center. Authorities said she suffered serious injuries. The injured woman's name is not being released at this time, police said. The driver of the SUV was not injured. Gwinnett County Police Department spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman said the name of the deceased will not be released until his family is notified. Spellman said the driver of the Honda was not wearing his seat belt and may have been under the influence of alcohol but an investigation continues to determine the cause of the accident. According to police, the drivers of both the SUV and the Taurus were properly restrained.More like this story
