Scott Burkholder takes Chamber job

DULUTH - Scott Burkholder, former Inc. 500 executive, manager and small business professional, was recently named director of small business development and programs for the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to joining the Chamber, Burkholder was the founder of EO Telecom a local and long distance telephone company, and Fiberworks Inc., a nationwide telecom construction and wholesale dark fiber provider. In 2001, Burkholder's Fiberworks was recognized on the Inc. 500 List of the Fastest Growing Private Companies in the United States.

As director of small business development and programs, Burkholder will be responsible for directing the Gwinnett Chamber's program activities that involve supervising program managers accountable for more than 30 programs related to small business development, niche markets, community development and major annual events. In addition, he will launch new entrepreneurial and small business programs to fulfill numerous goals in the Partnership Gwinnett Economic and Community Development Strategy.

Burkholder earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and mathematics from Syracuse University.

Perry, Ghaswala named to Remax Hall of Fame

DULUTH - Mack Perry and Anwar Ghaswala of Remax Around Atlanta Duluth were named to the 2008 Remax Hall of Fame.

Perry, of Lawrenceville, devotes time to teaching search engine optimization classes to fellow agents. He has been a real estate agent for nine years and is a member of the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors, the Real Estate Buyers Agent Council, graduate of the Capstone Institute of Mortgage Finance and an Active Life Member of the Million Dollar Club.

Ghaswala is a founding member of the investment real estate professionals team at the Duluth office. He speaks six languages, is a Million Dollar Club member and earned the Remax Around Phoenix award in 2007.

Mitsubishi Electric HVAC joins council

SUWANEE - Mitsubishi Electric HVAC Advanced Products Division became a manufacturer member of the U.S. Green Building Council. The company will develop environmentally responsible air conditioning and heating products and technology and make their Mr. Slim and city multisystems more energy and cost efficient.

Cruse Crossing Center sold

LAWRENCEVILLE - Los Angeles-based CA Plaza recently bought the Cruse Crossing Shopping Center at 950 Herrington Drive for $12 million.

The 81,666-square-foot center is anchored by Kroger and holds a Kroger Fuel Station, Bank of America, Pizza Hut, UPS Store, Washington Mutual, Metro PCS and American Lubefast. The five-building property was built in 1995.

"We generated 10 offers in the first two weeks of marketing," said Kevin Fryman, senior associate at Hanley Investment Group, which represented both the buyer and the seller, Black Sox, based in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

Representatives of CA Plaza assumed an existing loan with a 5.69 percent interest rate that required a 24 percent down payment, Fryman said. Kroger occupies 78 percent of the shopping center's square footage, he said, and generates 60 percent of its income.

Faith-based public relations firm grows

DULUTH - The DeMoss Group, a public relations firm that specializes in faith-based organizations, recently increased its staff by 20 percent adding four new professionals.

Since its founding in 1991, The DeMoss Group has served more than 120 clients including Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Chuck Colson's prison fellowship, T.D. Jakes Ministries and Samaritan's Purse, an international Christian relief organization.

DULUTH - Duluth-based Color and Magic, a commercial photography business, will be one of the sponsors of the 2008 Atlanta Marketer of the Year Awards, hosted by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Marketing Association. The event will be held at the Fox Theatre at 5:30 p.m. March 27.
