Gwinnett Daily Post
The Brookwood football team had four players make verbal college commitments.
Wide receiver/defensive back Josh Jackson, tight end Jarrett Mackey and offensive lineman A.J. Mackey have committed to Army, while defensive lineman Hunter Simms has committed to Charleston Southern. Jackson had 20 catches for 264 yards and 2 TDs in Brookwood's run-oriented offense. He also had 61 tackles and three interceptions on defense to earn second-team all-county honors by the Daily Post. The Mackey brothers led the way for running back Kenny Miles to rush for 2,544, the third-most in county history. A.J. was a first-team all-county selection by the Daily Post. Simms had 48 tackles and 51/2 sacks last season was selected to the second-team of the Daily Post's all-county team. That gives Brookwood seven commitments from last year's 9-3 team that reached the second round of the playoffs. Terence Davis (Wake Forest), Dawson Zimmerman (Clemson) and Miles (South Carolina) have also made commitments. Brookwood will hold its signing day ceremony Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Lodge.More like this story
