LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man is behind bars after police said he pointed a gun at his neighbors Tuesday, then barricaded himself inside his home for several hours.
David Allen Dick, 35, is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail, charged with six counts of aggravated assault. According to reports, Gwinnett police responded to a residence in the 1700 block of McDowell Court about 10 p.m. after receiving a call about a man with a handgun. Police said the caller said he and several others were outside talking when Dick, the man's neighbor, approached them and pointed a handgun at them before returning to his own house. Officers spoke with Dick through a second-floor window, but Dick refused to come outside, reports said. Gwinnett's SWAT team was called in and was able to reach Dick on the telephone and confirm that he was the only person inside the house. The SWAT team used its remote-controlled robot to "monitor the situation" inside the house while negotiators spoke with Dick, who surrendered peacefully at about 5 a.m. Wednesday. Gwinnett Police Department spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said it is unclear what caused the incident, which is still under investigation. He said Dick may face additional charges.More like this story
