BUFORD - A suspect shot by police on Dec. 21 after allegedly holding five people hostage in a Buford apartment, robbing them and kidnapping one committed his crimes with a BB gun, according to arrest warrants.
Christopher Edward King, 20, of Buford, remains in a local hospital after undergoing surgery. He was last listed in critical but stable condition.
King is accused of entering the Thompson Mill Road apartment, brandishing the weapon and demanding the five occupants give up their personal belongings, including Christmas gifts and an XBox 360 video game system. King also allegedly bound the five victims with electrical cords and Xbox controllers during the three-hour ordeal.
King reportedly then made one resident get into his own Dodge Durango to "take a ride." One of the occupants was able to free himself and call police, who chased the Durango to Arden Drive, where they said King exited the car and brandished a weapon, causing a responding officer to open fire.
A Gwinnett Police Department spokesman couldn't say what type of weapon was flashed, or confirm it was the same BB gun used in the robbery, but a victim at the apartment said King was armed with what appeared to be a small, black handgun.
According to the arrest warrant, King is being held without bond.
