Norcross youth performs at Alliance Theatre

LAWRENCEVILLE - At just 11 years old, Tessa Lene Palisoc's acting credits include three seasons performing in the Alliance Theatre's production of "A Christmas Carol," the role of Varrio in Kudzu Playhouse's "The Little Mermaid" and a turn as Molly in "Annie Jr." with the Off-Broadway Children's Theater.

The Galloway School fifth-grader and Norcross resident has enjoyed her fourth run as a cast member in the Alliance Theatre's "A Christmas Carol," which is in its 19th season and is a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic holiday story of a cold-hearted Ebenzer Scrooge and the ghosts of Christmases past, present and future who help him change his "bah humbug" ways.

Palisoc performed the roles of Melinda Cratchit, a daughter of Scrooge's employee, Bob Cratchit, and a spirit that presents all of the wants in the world.

"(Melinda) gets to do a lot of fun stuff," Palisoc said, "and she gets to actually be happy, and some of the roles aren't as happy."

Palisoc began auditioning for acting roles after a teacher in an after-school program told her mother she seemed to have a knack for performing. Tama Palisoc said her daughter auditioned for fun for a role in "A Christmas Carol" and was cast.

"My husband and I are so proud of her," Tama Palisoc said. "She loves acting, she loves being on stage and she seems to really have a talent for it."

Tessa Palisoc said she plans to continue performing for a long time.

"I like being on stage and having everyone watching you," she said. "Some people get embarrassed and nervous, but I feel really good and it makes me feel good."

Following her 2:30 p.m. performance today, Palisoc can add another season in "A Christmas Carol" to her acting credits and 26 shows as Melinda Cratchit.

"I like coming back to the Alliance Theatre every year and doing it all over again," said Palisoc, who is also a competitive gymnast with the Roswell Gymnastic Team. "Acting and singing is a great hobby."
