SUWANEE - A 31-year-old Suwanee man died in the predawn hours of Sunday morning when he lost control of his car on Interstate 85, police said.
His passenger, who was not identified, was hospitalized at Gwinnett Medical Center with serious injuries.
Police said William T. Rollins was traveling northbound on the interstate near the I-985 split when his 2003 Nissan 350Z left the roadway, spun through a grassy shoulder and collided with several trees.
Neither of the occupants was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected, said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. Rollins died on scene.
"It appears that alcohol may have been a factor in this accident," Spellman said.
A toxicology report is pending.
