LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department deputies teamed with U.S. Marshals this week on a warrant sweep that netted 19 people trying to duck the law, officials said.
The Wednesday night sweep covered all of Gwinnett and resulted in 19 felony arrests on a host of charges, said Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais. The suspects' alleged wrongdoings ran the gamut from probation violations, thefts, burglaries and drug running, to more heady crimes like deposit account fraud, Bourbonnais said. The Sheriff's Department routinely joins forces with outside agencies to more effectively drag the county. For this sweep, they teamed with the U.S. Marshal's Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. "Considering that most of the people we are looking for are actively avoiding arrest, this was a good night," said Sheriff Butch Conway.More like this story
