Grindhouse: Planet Terror & Death Proof Blu-rays (NR)
Movies: 3 1/2 stars out of 4 Discs: 4 stars Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" and Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof" were glorious tributes to the cheesy "Grindhouse" genre of the '70s. Because of time considerations, both films were trimmed for their original "R" rated double-feature theatrical run and both felt a bit choppy because of it. Now available separately and in their uncut and extended forms, both play out much better. Because it is a two-disc set with more bonus materials, the slightly superior "Planet Terror" is a better value, although hard-core Tarantino fans might beg to differ. Technical specifications: aspect ratio: Widescreen, audio: English (5.1 True HD, Dolby Stereo), English, French, Italian and Spanish (Dolby 5.1) subtitles: English and Spanish. Special features: · Featurettes: Six for each title · Music videos · Trailers · Poster galleries · BD Live · Rodriguez commentary (Dimension, $34.95 & $29.95.)More like this story
