C.D. Spell, age 89 of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away at Gwinnett Medical Center on Friday, December 12, 2008. He was born in Georgetown, MS and resided over 50 years in Vicksburg, MS. He served in WW II in Europe from 1943-1945 as a Staff Sergeant. He was employed by Illinois Central Railroad as Chief Clerk for the freight office for over 40 years, president of the IC Credit Union for six years and an active member of the First Baptist Church in Vicksburg for 50 years. He relocated to Lawrenceville in 2001 and is a Homebound member of Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church in Lilburn, GA. In addition to his parents, Collie & Mary Delia Spell, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Preston B. Spell of Stone Harbor, NJ. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florene Spell; son Kenneth C. Spell of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Marcia Barker and her husband, Steve, their children, Jonathan & Melody Barker and their granddaughter, Amelia Barker all of Lawrenceville, GA. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2 o'clock at Pilgrimage Presbyterian Church, 4525 Wynne Russell Dr. NW, Lilburn, GA with Rev. Greg McMinn officiating. Serving as pallbearers Steve Barker, Jonathan Barker, Charles Williams, Drake Keller, Don Seagers and Bob Lamp'l. The family will receive friends at 1:00pm at the church.
