Prep roundup: Clarke has big night as Norcross girls win again

NORCROSS - Tiffany Clarke led Norcross with 20 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks as the Blue Devils beat Northview 73-53 on Saturday.

Anjelica Wilcox contributed 16 points and five assists. Briana Jordan scored 14 points and had six assists for Norcross. Bianca O'Neal totaled 11 points and six assists for the Blue Devils (7-1).


Parkview 36, Lassiter 25

LILBURN - Parkview improved to 8-0 with a 36-25 victory over Lassiter on Saturday.

Katie Carroll led the Panthers with 15 points, while Lauren Coleman chipped in 10 points.

Loganville 54, South 22

LOGANVILLE - Brittnee Hazel scored 13 points to help Loganville (6-3) defeat South Gwinnett 54-22 on Saturday.

Commerce 57, Hebron 52

COMMERCE - Hebron Christian fell to Commerce 57-52 on Saturday.

Mindy Montgomery led Hebron with 23 points and Kline Couch scored 19 for the Lions (2-4).


Norcross 71, Northview 42

NORCROSS - Norcross defeated Northview 71-42 on Saturday.

Adrian Hubbard totaled 17 points and Taariq Muhammad scored 14 points for Norcross (5-0).

Meadowcreek 68, MLK 65

ATLANTA - Meadowcreek earned a 68-65 victory over MLK on Saturday.

Jarvis Brown scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds, while Dominique McKoy contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Mustangs (6-1).

Chapel Hill 62, Dacula 54

DOUGLASVILLE - Dacula fell to Chapel Hill 62-54 on Saturday.

Brian Cole led Dacula (4-4) with 21 points and Matt Marseille scored 16.

Commerce 80, Hebron 75

COMMERCE - Hebron Christian fell to Commerce 80-75 despite 29 points and 11 rebounds from Shawn Gibbs on Saturday.

Anthony Stewart had 22 points and 11 rebounds for Hebron. Reid Miller chipped in eight points for the Lions (2-4).

Hart Co. 54, Apalachee 52

HARTWELL - Apalachee fell to Hart County 54-52 on Saturday.

Dennis Whitley scored 21 points and DeVaughn Kilgore added 15 for Apalachee (2-3).

Wesleyan 52, Holy Innocents' 47

ATLANTA - Wesleyan improved to 4-3 after beating Holy Innocents' 52-47 on Saturday.

Griffin Schamp scored 20 points and Carter Brantley added 10 for the Wolves.


Collins Hill wins Cleveland Duals

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Collins Hill Eagles upped their overall record to 12-1 as they won the Cleveland Duals tournament Saturday.

Collins Hill defeated South Dade (Fla.) 33-26 in the title match. The Eagles rolled over earlier competition with wins over Tennessee schools Brentwood Academy (58-9), Soddy Daisy (60-9) and Father Ryan (58-9).

T.J. Mitchell was the MVP for winning teams and Taylor Knapp was the MVP in Collins Hill's pool. Undefeated for the tournament were Mitchell, John Allgood, Allen Willard, Joel Smith, Knapp and Jamie Hertica.

Brookwood goes 7-0 in weekend event

SNELLVILLE - Brookwood went undefeated over two days of wrestling, beating Berkmar 53-18, Blessed Trinity 42-24, South Paulding 45-23, Riverwood 51-22, Cartersville 49-23, Clarke Central 42-12 and Blessed Trinity 41-26 over the weekend.

Joe Epps (130), Corban Nilson (215) and Sean Savice (119) were undefeated for the Broncos. Sean Thomas (103), Jonathan Daniels (112), Stephen Daniels (125), Kyle Smith (160) and Chris Roman (171) each went 6-1 for Brookwood (18-4).

Grayson victorious at Creekview Invitational

CANTON - Grayson finished first in the Creekview Invitational tournament on Saturday.

All 14 wrestlers medaled and there were 23 points and five technical falls during the tournament.

The first-place tournament champions were Nick Isburgh (119), Austin Martin (130), Roman Mangini (135), Zach George (140) and Paul Ardila (189).

Tucker Kreis (112), Jack Dunster (145) and Michael Dixon (285) placed second in the tournament.

George and Ardila remain undefeated for the season.

Central has five wrestlers place in tourney

WINDER - Central Gwinnett's Jacob Aiken-Phillips (285) placed first and was the Most Outstanding Wrestler in the Apalachee Wildcat Invitational on Saturday.

Aiken-Phillips is now 23-0 with 21 pins and has won two tournaments. Devon Fernandez (119) placed second, while Devante Brown (125), Alen Mulametovic (130) and Miles Cunningham (140) each placed third for Central.

Peachtree Ridge goes 5-2

CUMMING - Peachtree Ridge placed sixth out of 19 schools at the Sawnee Mountain Duels on Saturday.

Peachtree Ridge beat Parkview 45-30, Gilmer 46-26, Milton 41-24, Walton 33-32 and North Forsyth 36-22. The Lions fell to Jefferson 68-9 and Bradley Central (Tenn.) 45-16.

Undefeated wrestlers were Matt Chapman (171), Shaun Scruggs (285), Aslan Gigolaev (152) and Alan Gigolaev (160). Sam Kuntz (189) went 6-1 and Josh Bloodworth (130) and Michael Chapman (145) both went 5-2. Peachtree Ridge improved to 18-7.

Mill Creek finishes seventh

CANTON - Mill Creek finished seventh at the Sequoyah Invitational on Saturday.

Tommy Caputo (171) went 13-1 and placed second. Austin Hagan (285) also placed second for Mill Creek.

Josh Harrison (130) went 10-1 and finished third. Mason Sheats (112), Augustus Appling (135) and Ryan Gasaway (160) placed fourth for the Hawks.
