Political pundits headline GMC gala

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation's Cornerstone Society Donor Appreciation Gala doesn't take place until Feb. 28, but time to receive invitations is running out.

Admission to the gala will be invitation only, and no tickets will be available at the event. Those interested in attending must join the Cornerstone Society by Dec. 31.

Entrance to the black tie event, which will be held at the Terrace Park Medical Center, will be limited to those who donate $1,000 or more. All proceeds will benefit the foundation, a nonprofit philanthropy supporting GMC.

Guest speakers for the event will be political pundits James Carville and Mary Matalin. The husband and wife have co-authored the New York Times bestseller "All's Fair: Love, War and Running for President."

Carville is a well-known political consultant who is also an actor, producer and talk show host. Matalin was the first White House official to hold the double title of assistant to President George W. Bush and counselor to Vice President Dick Cheney. She hosted the television show, "Crossfire," and was co-host of "Equal Time."

"We are delighted to have Mr. Carville and Mrs. Matalin spend an evening helping us recognize and thank our donors," said Ginger Powell, GMC Foundation director. "The Cornerstone Society ... is vital to the success of the GMC Foundation's annual giving program. Our donors have made it possible for Gwinnett Medical Center to bring premium health care to our community and there is much more to do."

Foundation board member Lori Carnes said the event will be one you won't want to miss.

"We believe it is so important to recognize and show our appreciation to members in the community who believe in the medical center and Project PATH, and who have generously given to the foundation," Carnes said. "I'm excited that we're not raising money at this gala, but it will be a spectacular evening with James Carville and Mary Matalin, a great band and a wonderful location."
