The Dark Knight (PG-13)

Movie: 3 stars out of 4

Disc: 3 1/2 stars out of 4

The second-highest grossing movie of all-time is (as the title implies) the darkest comic-book adaptation ever and plays out less like an action/adventure and more like a dramatic thriller. Rarely at the center of the action in any of his own movies, Batman (Christian Bale) goes toe-to-toe with the one of the greatest villains in movie history in the form of the Joker played by likely Oscar-winner Heath Ledger. The late Australian actor gives cinematic evil new meaning and if not for too many false endings that offer no closure, this movie could have been an undeniable classic.
