Fire causes moderate damage

DACULA - A Wednesday evening fire scalded a kitchen in the 2500 block of Forestdale Drive in Dacula.

Firefighters responded to the fire just after 6 p.m. in the split-level home, rendering it under control in about 15 minutes, said Rutledge.

The blaze caused moderate damage to the kitchen and sent smoke throughout the home, he said.

Officials contacted the Red Cross to assist four adults and three children displaced by the damage. No injuries were reported.

The fire appears to have originated on a countertop near the kitchen appliances, Rutledge said.
