SNELLVILLE - Due to its consistent high occupancy rate, Emory Eastside Medical Center has received approval from the Department of Community Health to add 21 beds, bringing its capacity to 231.
Ten beds were added to the facility in October. The Joint and Spine Pavilion opened in September and has operated at near capacity from the beginning. Some of the new beds will be used to expand the Joint and Spine Pavilion. By year's end, the hospital's emergency department will be expanded by seven beds to improve department efficiency. "In conjunction with the additional 31 inpatient beds, our emergency department is receiving several upgrades to reduce wait times, improve care and patient satisfaction," Chief Operating Officer Dustin Greene said. Also, about $1.2 million in new construction is expected to completed by early January. "Along with (emergency department) improvements, Eastside is installing a new $700,000 state-of-the-art cardiac monitoring system," Greene said. "We are extremely pleased with this expansion and the growth of our services," Chief Executive Officer Kim Ryan said.More like this story
