LAWRENCEVILLE - A recount has been requested in the Norcross City Council runoff election decided by one vote this week.
Michelle Crofton, who lost the race 398 to 399 to Ross Kaul, filed paperwork with the city clerk Friday, and officials are expected to determine the details Monday, said City Clerk Susan Wuerzner. "It's a one-vote spread, and unfortunately we think they may not have complied with the elections code," Crofton's husband Peter said. "No matter who wins, it ought to be done right." After the initial vote tally ended in a tie Tuesday, the city attorney determined a ballot, which had marks beside both candidates, was intended for Kaul. Wuerzner said the city charter has no provisions for settling a tie.More like this story
