Location: Red Brick Oven is tucked into a shopping center just off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near its intersection with Suwanee Dam Road. Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays Owner: Duluth resident Marcel Baghdadi holds a degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech but has worked for years in the restaurant industry. He and his brother, Talal Baghdadi, own Red Brick Oven. Atmosphere: Red Brick Oven offers table and counter seating. The source of its name, the actual red brick oven, is visible from the entrance. Menu: Red Brick Oven isn't just a pizza place, co-owner Marcel Baghdadi said. With influences from various cultures, including Italian, French, Japanese and Lebanese, the restaurant's menu features gourmet food, a reflection of Marcel Baghdadi's previous restaurants, at reasonable prices. Items include specialty salads, soups, sandwiches and grilled entrees. Baghdadi said the blackened chicken sandwich is a popular lunch selection, while entrees range from grilled quail and lamb kabobs to shrimp brochettes and grilled salmon. Homemade desserts at Red Brick Oven include cheesecake and tiramisu. Things you might not know: In addition to his degree in electrical engineering, Marcel Baghdadi, a native of Lebanon, studied medicine in France before moving to the United States.More like this story
