SUWANEE - Khalid Mutakabbir and C.J. Blackwell each scored 24 points in Peachtree Ridge's 64-52 win over South Forsyth on Thursday.

Mutakabbir had 12 rebounds and Blackwell grabbed 18 rebounds for the Lions (3-1, 2-0).

Peachtree Ridge 53, South Forsyth 31

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge picked up its first Region 7-AAAAA victory of the season, knocking off South Forsyth 53-31 on Thursday.

Brittany Jack led the Lions (3-1, 1-1) with 17 points and five rebounds and Erika Waters had 13 points, four steals and three rebounds.

SWIMMING/DIVING

Mill Creek, Wesleyan split

NORCROSS - Mill Creek's girls edged Wesleyan 159-153 in a swimming and diving meet on Tuesday, while the host Wolves won the boys competition 161-153.

Mill Creek took a split-squad to the meet.

Mill Creek's event winners were: Kaitlin Bishop (200 freestyle, 2 minutes, 11.44 seconds and 100 free, 58.75), Parker Schwab (200 individual medley, 2:04.50 and 500 free, 4:51.24), Karla Gibson (200 IM, 2:27.59 and 100 breaststroke, 1:12.47), Matt Turnblom (100 butterfly, 57.33 and 100 backstroke, 59.46), Hayleigh McCall (500 free, 5:58.07) and Samantha North (100 back, 1:09.53).

Wesleyan's first-place finishers were: Michael Reynolds (200 free, 1:50.13), Anthony McMurry (50 free, 23.31 and 100 free, 50.27), Erika Ramsey (50 free, 26.31), Zach Hernandez (diving, 247.15), Lauren Hall (diving, 243.55), Jordan Jackson (100 fly, 1:05.49) and Will Gregory (100 breast, 1:03.05).

WRESTLING

Lions claim two wins

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge won its home opener on Wednesday, beating St. Pius 67-16 and Berkmar 57-24.

Drew Harrison (130 pounds), Tyler Gregg (140), Bradley Heugh (145), Michael Chapman (152), Aslan Gigolaev (160), Matt Chapman (171), Alan Gigolaev (171), Jordan McDaniel (189) and Sam Kuntz (215) were undefeated for the Lions.
