DULUTH - A multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 85 northbound injured six and clogged lanes for several hours Friday evening, authorities said. No fatalities were reported.
Seven vehicles - including a tractor-trailer - were involved in the collision, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. between Pleasant Hill Road and Ga. Highway 316, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation's Web site. An adult and a small child were critically injured in the crash, Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. Both were trapped in separate vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. They were airlifted to area trauma centers. Three people sustained minor to moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals by ambulance, Rutledge said. One person was treated and released at the scene with a minor injury. Traffic was reportedly backed up for several miles while crews worked the scene. All lanes were reopened by 9:25 p.m., according to GDOT.More like this story
