WINDER - A pedestrian was struck by a motorist while crossing a downtown Winder intersection Thursday morning, authorities said.
Charles Asbury, 60, was taken to an area hospital with visible injuries to his face, Winder police Lt. Todd Druse said. Asbury was hit at 9:52 a.m. by a 1992 Ford F-150 pickup truck turning left onto North Broad Street from East Athens Street, Druse said. Witnesses said Asbury was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident. "The intersection is equipped with a pedestrian control signal, and witnesses reported to police that the signal indicated that pedestrians could cross the intersection," Druse said. No charges have been filed against the driver. The incident is still under investigation.More like this story
