LILBURN - Jordan DeArmon pitched a two-hit shutout on Tuesday night, helping Parkview to a 4-0 win over McEachern. DeArmon (3-0) finished with six strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.
Summer Rose paced the offense for the Panthers (4-2) with a pair of doubles and two RBIs while Katie Block had a double and two RBIs. Jamie Dennis, Desirae Thomas and Sara Coker also helped as each player was 1-for-3.
Woodward 12, Berkmar 0
COLLEGE PARK - Berkmar dropped its season opener 12-0 to Woodward Academy in four innings Tuesday night.
Mimi Nguyen led the offense for Berkmar by reaching base twice in three at-bats while Adriana Quintero had a single. The Patriots (0-1) also received good defense from outfielders Brittani Bumb and Chanel Hall and shortstop Alexis Kuhns.
Dacula 6, GAC 1
NORCROSS - Charlotte Sieber went 4-for-5, including two doubles, with a run and an RBI on Tuesday in leading Dacula (2-0) to a 6-1 win over Greater Atlanta Christian.
Kelsey Martin also helped at the plate with a 2-for-5 night and scored two runs while driving in two more. Pitcher Kori Waugh (1-0) got the win by allowing one run in seven innings with four strikeouts.
Oconee Co. 14, South 6
SNELLVILLE - South Gwinnett dropped to 2-3-1 on Tuesday after falling to Oconee County 14-6 in the South Gwinnett Diamond Classic.
Rachel Ludick had a double and an RBI for South while Lindsey Hogan finished 1-for-2 with two runs.
Brookwood beats Norcross, Duluth
SNELLVILLE - Brookwood improved to 3-2 on Tuesday with wins over Duluth (25-5, 18-25, 25-12) and Norcross (16-25, 25-20, 30-28).
Leading the way for the Broncos were Abby Case (50 assists), Brandi Byers (22 kills, nine digs) and Melanie Thompson (eight aces, seven kills). Brookwood missed a sweep on the night by falling to Lassiter 25-18, 25-16.
Norcross also lost to Lassiter (25-17, 25-20) but rebounded with a 25-8, 25-6 win over Duluth. Tiffany Clarke led the Blue Devils (1-2) with 22 kills, nine aces and seven blocks. Briana Jordan finished with 16 kills and 11 digs. Anjelica Wilcox added 11 kills and Rachel Monteagudo delivered 37 assists.
North opens with two wins
SUWANEE - North Gwinnett's season got off to a good start Tuesday with a pair of wins over Johnson (25-19, 25-14) and Peachtree Ridge (21-25, 25-10, 25-9).
Leading players for North (2-0) were Danielle Sphire (12 kills, six aces), Stefanie Gavrila (11 kills, six aces) and Megan Carnell (13 aces, 10 kills).
Parkview starts season with split
DECATUR - Parkview started its season with a split Tuesday as the Panthers beat Holy Innocents' in three games (25-21, 18-25, 25-16) and lost to Decatur (25-15, 17-25, 25-23).
Libby Lukens had a big night for Parkview (1-1) with 45 assists while Kelly Hayden had 16 digs and Audrey Hipple finished with 11 kills.
Providence beats McEachern
ATLANTA - Providence rebounded from being swept in two games by Lovett (25-13, 25-20) to top McEachern in the Stars' season opener Tuesday.
Providence beat the Indians in three games 25-21, 19-25, 25-20.
Grayson splits two matches with Collins Hill
SUWANEE - Grayson opened its season Tuesday night by splitting a pair of matches with Collins Hill.
Grayson opened the first match with a 25-9 win in the first game but the Eagles rallied to take the match by winning in the last two games (25-22, 25-21). The Rams (1-1) took the second match in three games (25-22, 16-25, 25-21).
Manyi Ati led Grayson up front with 101/2 blocks, eight kills and three aces. Ansley Cash (17 assists, four kills, two aces) and Elexis Quimby (eight kills, three blocks) each had a good night.
Hebron knocks off Our Lady of Mercy
DACULA - Hebron swept Our Lady of Mercy on Tuesday 25-19, 25-20.
The Lions fell short in sweeping both matches as Mill Creek topped Hebron 25-15, 25-17. Hebron (1-1) was led by Courtney Bishop (nine kills), Elise Murray (six kills, four blocks) and Sarah Hedrick (five aces, four kills).
