SNELLVILLE - South Gwinnett won the Copper Division of the Diamond Classic on Saturday with wins over Monroe Area and Chamblee.
South Gwinnett fell to Southwest Dekalb 11-6 but beat Monroe Area 9-1. Chamblee beat Monroe Area 10-7 and Southwest Dekalb 8-5. Southwest Dekalb took a 14-1 win over Monroe Area and South Gwinnett shutout Chamblee 10-0. SOFTBALL Peachtree Ridge wins five SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge beat Forsyth Central 2-0, Jefferson 5-2, Union Grove 3-0, Forsyth Central 8-0 and North Gwinnett 4-1 at the Diamond Classic. In the first game, Krysten Connelly struck out nine batters and gave up three hits in seven innings. Gabby Bedard was 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run and Sade Johnson was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run. Callie Fernandez went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Peachtree Ridge. Connelly threw a complete game in the second game and struck out five batters. Johnson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a home run and Fernandez was 3-for-3 with a triple, double and an RBI. Chandler Frisbee went 2-for-4 and Connelly was 2-for-3 for Peachtree Ridge. In the third game Connelly struck out seven batters and pitched a complete game for Peachtree Ridge. Fernandez was 1-for-3 with a triple and Emily Osterhaus was 2-for-3. Connelly pitched a complete game shut out in the fourth game and gave up four hits and struck out four batters. Fernandez was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a double, while Frisbee went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a double. Megan McWilliams was 1-for-3. Osterhaus struck out four batters and gave up an earned run while pitching the final game on Saturday. Ali Smith was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Bedard was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Johnson was 1-for-2, Frisbee was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Fernandez went 1-for-3 for Peachtree Ridge (5-0). North wins two, falls to Peachtree Ridge SUWANEE - North Gwinnett took a 5-3 win over Forsyth Central and shutout Union Grove 8-0, but fell to Peachtree Ridge 4-1 at the Diamond Classic on Saturday. In the first game, Jennifer Gray pitched five scoreless innings and gave up three hits and struck out five batters. Kristen O'Niell had a double and scored a run on a sac fly and Kaitlyn Smith went 2-for-4 with two singles. Sammie Rao scored two RBIs on a double and Kacey Martin and Chloe Babcock each scored a single for North. Alex McDavid threw a complete game and gave up three hits and five strikeouts. At the plate McDavid was 2-for-3 with two singles and Lexi Anderson was 3-for-4 with a single and a double. Smith scored a double and Martin, Kristen Hall and Brianna Shallis each scored a single for North. In the final game, Kali Shimmin pitched five scoreless innings for North. Brittany Broome hit a double and Martin was 3-for-4 with two singles and a double. Rao and Smith each had a single and Anderson hit a single with an RBI for North (3-1-1). Shiloh wins 1, loses 2 SNELLVILLE - Shiloh shut out Woodward Academy 11-0, but fell to North Gate 6-2 and Jefferson 10-1 on Saturday. Amber Johnson got the win against Woodward. Monet Daly was 2-for-3 with a triple, single and two RBIs and Lauren Lynn was 2-for-3 with a double, single and three RBIs. Hannah Piatt was 2-for-2 with a hit, double and three RBIs for Shiloh (2-3) against Woodward. Providence goes 5-1 GAINESVILLE - Providence beat Flowery Branch 7-1, lost to Hebron 1-0, shut out White County 1-0 and beat Flowery Branch 10-1 at the Lake Lanier Invitational. Briana Cannady (2-0) got both wins against Flowery Branch. Kylie Kleinschmidt threw a no hitter against Hebron and struck out 11, but the Lions took a 1-0 win over Providence after scoring on a fielders choice in the eight inning. Kleinschmidt (3-0) struck out 14 against White County. Over the weekend Kendal White had five hits, seven RBIs, a double and a grand slam against Flowery Branch in the last game. Rachel Reiswig had 10 hits and seven RBIs and Kleinschmidt finished with six hits, a home run and a triple.
