Hours: The cafe is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed Sundays.
Owner: A native of Versailles, France, Chef Christophe Houy began culinary school at the age of 16 and has worked in fine dining restaurants in his native country, as well as in Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean. Houy moved to Atlanta in 2001 and worked in several Buckhead restaurants before becoming a chef instructor at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, where he met his business partner and fellow chef, Jennifer Allen. Together, they offer patrons of Gourmandises a variety of French-inspired foods.
Atmosphere: The first thing patrons may notice when visiting Gourmandises is the lovely patio dining area beside the cafe, where they can enjoy their food selections under bright yellow umbrellas beside a small cluster of trees and foliage that has managed to remain despite development along the busy roadway. Inside Gourmandises, the most prominent fixtures are two display cases featuring an assortment of enticing pastries. The walls of the cafe are decorated with original artwork by several artists, including Houy's brother, Frederic Payet, who owns a gallery in Midtown.
Menu: Gourmandises boasts authentic French food, including breads, pastries and sandwiches. The items served are free of hormones and antibiotics, and many of the menu items reflect a healthy take on gourmet food.
Houy said the most popular item on the menu is the chicken salad, a French chicken salad served on lettuce and tomatoes.
Houy and Allen regularly create new pastries for patrons to enjoy.
Things you might not know: You won't find typical dressings to top the variety of salads offered at Gourmandises. Houy makes his own dressings, including lemon provence, red wine vinegar paprika, low fat yogurt dressing and balsamic vinaigrette.

Gourmandises sandwich - Cerrano ham, Parisian ham, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, arugula, truffle oil, butter gourmand, and old style mustard are served on bread with a choice of green salad, pasta salad, tabbouleh or a cup of soup.
Pleasure - This appropriately named dessert is a layered pastry with chocolate mousse topped by a layer of sabayon mousse and finished with carmelized sugar.
Doctor's drink - A combination of strong parsley and garlic, Houy said this all-natural homemade concoction aids in boosting antibodies and helping the body stay healthy.
