Buford Marriott manager named GM of the year
BUFORD - Matt Crall, manager of SpringHill Suites by Marriott at the Mall of Georgia, was recently named Hotel Equities' general manager of the year for the fifth time in six years. He earned the award for consistently exceeding sales goals by a firm margin and for his hotel having garnered good ratings with guests and associates.
Duluth man named hotel's associate of the year
DULUTH - Mark Mukangu of Duluth was recently named Hotel Equities' associate of the year.
Mukangu was chosen from associates at 19 of the company's hotels. He serves as guest service representative at the Perimeter Center Fairfield Inn & Suites Hotel.
Village at Deaton Creek finalist for housing award
Hoschton - Village at Deaton Creek by Del Webb recently was named as a finalist in the 2008 Best of 50+ Housing Awards.
The community was honored in the overall community design category for communities with 850 or more homes. The 545-acre gated community will hold about 1,250 homes upon completion. It was also recently named the best-selling community in metro-Atlanta by Metrostudy for 2007.
LXE's general manager to retire
NORCROSS - Jim Childress announced Wednesday his upcoming retirement as president and general manager of LXE Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Norcross-based EMS Technologies. Childress joined LXE in 2000.
He led the company to seven consecutive years of record revenues and strong growth, as well as recognition by MobileVillage for six straight years for best customer service among mobile hardware vendors.
LXE sells mobile computing data collection equipment.
