outside of an apartment complex

NORCROSS - A man was arrested by police after he allegedly passed out on the ground following an afternoon of drinking.

Police were called to the Sinclair apartment community in the 3600 block of Park Colony Drive in Norcross about 6:15 p.m. for the report of a drunk man passed out on the ground near the leasing office. When police arrived, they woke him and asked how much he had to drink. He said he had "too much beer," according to the police report.

As the man stood up, his pants - unbuttoned and unzipped - slid down and exposed his underwear to bystanders.

Charged with disorderly conduct, the man was placed under arrest and taken to the Gwinnett County Jail without incident.

NORCROSS - A Norcross woman told police two women - including someone nicknamed "Punch" - keep calling her, threatening to beat her up.

The 25-year-old victim showed police a text message from "Punch" that invites her to a club so she can be assaulted. The women also call her at all hours of the night, she said.

The victim said she plans to apply for harassing phone call warrants and a temporary protective order.

Cause of two-story complex blaze still under investigation

DORAVILLE - Firefighters kept a Doraville apartment fire contained to a single unit at a two-story complex Monday night.

Firefighters responded to the fire in the 7100 block of Winter Trail at 10:12 p.m. and had it under control less than a half-hour later, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

One adult was treated for smoke exposure at the scene but was not transported to a hospital, Rutledge said. The fire caused moderate damage to the unit it started in but did not extend further.

Rutledge said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
