Sugar Hill sponsors clean-up days

SUGAR HILL - Got junk? Sugar Hill wants it.

With tax season all but a memory, it's time for a little spring cleaning in the city.

In cooperation with Robertson Sanitation, Sugar Hill will sponsor two clean-up days starting in May. Beginning May 14, waste crews will pick up approved items on the north end of Ga. Highway 20. The following week - May 21 - workers will remove items on the southern portion of Ga. 20.

Residents are asked to place items by the street; there is no charge for disposal. The initiative is for Sugar Hill residents only, officials said.

Several items will be collected, including:

· Broken or discarded lawn and garden furniture and equipment;

· Broken or discarded appliances (no refrigerators or freezers);

· Broken or discarded furniture;

· Other general debris from the yard or basement.

The city will not accept the following items:

· Yard or trash trimmings;

· Household garbage and construction debris;

· Hazardous materials or chemicals;

· Engines maintaining gas or oil;

· Propane and gasoline tanks;

· Automotive parts, tires or batteries;
