The 27th Annual Gwinnett County Police Chiefs Association Golf Tournament will be held at the Country Club of Gwinnett in Snellville. Funds will be used to assist public safety employees in times of need and provide a scholarship to children of public safety employees. The Suwanee Academy of the Arts will host an Usborne "Reading is a Gift" book fair on April 21 to 26, which gives parents, teachers, children and the community an opportunity to promote reading through a fundraising book fair event. The book fair will be open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and 9 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. Several events will kick off Tour de Georgia, which will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. BodyPlex Family Fitness will host the world's largest outdoor spin class. Three fitness instructors will lead up to 100 people in this fun spurt of energy at 5:30 p.m. Registration forms are available at www.suwanee.com or by calling BodyPlex at 770-614-6140. The registration fee is $20, with proceeds going to Lance Armstrong's LIVESTRONG Foundation. Friday

Sam's Club of Snellville and LifeSouth Community Blood Centers will host a blood drive from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Look for the bloodmobile at 1520 Scenic Highway.

Tour de Georgia will begin Friday and several roads along the Suwanee route will be closed briefly. The 120 professional cyclists participating in this year's tour will leave Town Center Park at 10 a.m., make their way by Level Creek Elementary, then back by Town Center Park to McGinnis Ferry Road, across the Chattahoochee and then make their way to Dahlonega. Tench Road in front of Level Creek Elementary (from Peachtree Industrial to Suwanee Dam) will be closed at 9:15 a.m. Other roads will be closed from about 9:55 to 10:15 a.m. These roads include: Buford Highway - between McGinnis Ferry and Suwanee Dam roads; Suwanee Dam - from Buford Highway to Tench Road; Brogdon Road - from Suwanee Dam to Tench Road; Tench Road - from Brogdon Road to Suwanee Dam; Peachtree Industrial Boulevard - from McGinnis Ferry to Tench Road; and McGinnis Ferry Road - from Buford Highway to the Chattahoochee River.
