WINDER - Two individuals face misdemeanor charges in the April 2007 death of Leland Lamar Martin, an 18-year-old Winder-Barrow High School senior who died during an after-prom party.
Barbara Ann Michael will face two counts of disorderly house, one count of furnishing alcohol to underage persons, three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and five counts of contributing to the deprivation of a minor.
Anthony Perry is charged with one count of disorderly house and one count of reckless conduct, said Richard Bridgeman, district attorney, Piedmont Judicial Circuit.
Arraignment for both defendants is expected to be scheduled for May in Barrow County Superior Court.
Martin was an honors student who had won a full scholarship to Young Harris College. He died near midnight in Michael's home at 586 Quail Trail Road in Auburn and was found about 12 hours later. Autopsy reports indicated that Martin had consumed alcohol and died after having fallen asleep turned in such a way that he suffocated, Chief Deputy Maj. Murray Kogod said.
