Former deputy indicted on child porn charges

WINDER - A former Barrow County sheriff's deputy was indicted Friday on 20 counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to Barrow County Superior Court documents.

Jason Gaub of Winder, who was age 32 when arrested in October, faces charges related to possession of child pornography. In late summer, officials with the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force contacted the Barrow County Sheriff's Department with information that made Gaub a possible suspect, Chief Deputy Maj. Murray Kogod said in an earlier interview. The two departments then worked jointly in researching the allegations.

A search of Gaub's home led to his arrest. He was later released on bond with conditions.

No trial date has been set. An employee with the district attorney's office in Barrow County would not confirm if Gaub remains free on bond.

Gaub had been employed by the Barrow County Sheriff's Department for about four years, said Kogod, who described him as a pretty good employee.

Gaub was married at the time of his arrest and had no children.
