Gwinnett Daily Post
The Daily Post won five awards in the annual Georgia Associated Press Association contest, with photo editor Jason Braverman and photographer Su Anderson both earning first-place honors. The awards were announced at a Saturday luncheon in Atlanta.
Braverman won for best portfolio, which required a submission of 10 photos, and placed second in the sports feature category for his picture of a muddy North Gwinnett football player after the state title game. Anderson's first-place honor was for her photo series of Barrow County's Hmong population and its culture. Graphics editor Nicole Puckett and sports editor Will Hammock placed second in the graphics category for the illustration "Baseball Blooms," which was the cover of the 2007 Major League Baseball preview section. And senior writer Camie Young placed third in the Freedom of Information category for her stories on a controversial land purchase in which Gwinnett County commissioners approved the purchase of land from a developer the day after the developer bought it. The Daily Post competes in Class AAAA, which includes all Georgia papers with circulation of 40,000 or more.More like this story
