Council member named woman business owner of the year

DULUTH - Marsha Anderson Bowmar, Duluth City Council member and owner of Duluth-based Street Smarts, was recently named Woman Business Owner of the Year by the National Association of Women Business Owners. Bowmar was selected on the basis of meeting certain criteria that include having served as a mentor for other women and having earned public recognition.

Her past honors include the Athena award from the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Society of Women Engineers.

Street Smarts is a 17-year-old planning, design and engineering consulting firm.

Christina Lynch earns Armstrong's chairman's award

LOGANVILLE - Armstrong World Industries recently presented its highest employee honor, the chairman's award, to Christina Lynch, retail strategic accounts manager in the Loganville office.

Lynch earned the award on the basis of having increased business with her customers by 18.2 percent.

Mondor named Concurrent CEO

DULUTH - Duluth-based Concurrent Computer Corporation recently announced that Dan Mondor will be appointed the company's chief operations officer. He replaces Gary Trimm, who will retire April 23.

Concurrent provides high-performance, real-time Linux software and solutions for commercial and government markets, including the cable television industry's video on demand and training and simulation for the military community.
